About the event

A hi-fi set, its tubes aglow through the speaker cloth. A wry delivery with a knowing wink to the listener — or a torch song passionately wrought. Throw in a dash of hippie, the occasional ukulele accompaniment, and you have the music of Addie Stan — warmly familiar, but always surprising. Based in Washington, D.C., Addie has haunted the jams and the jazz clubs of U Street and beyond for years; now she’s setting out to bring her unique blend of elements to the bandstand. Since moving to the District more than a decade ago to pursue a journalism career (under the byline Adele M. Stan), Addie has studied with some of the area’s finest musicians and educators: David Jernigan, Wayne Wilentz, Alison Crockett and Chris Grasso, to name a few. In 2019, she released her debut album, “It’s a Good Day,” produced by Wilentz, who also held down the keys while joined by a host of area virtuosos. A lover…
